Necotrans concession

French firm Necotrans has won the concession to operate the Port of Brazzaville in the Republic of the Congo. The company will invest US50M in rehabilitating the port by the end of next year and then seek to increase port capacity over the full 15 years of the concession. The port lies on the edge of Brazzaville on the lower reaches of the River Congo and is close to the Atlantic Ocean. It also lies opposite Kinshasa, the capital of Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo), which is forecast to become one of the biggest three cities in Africa within 30 years. Given the shortcomings of DR Congo's own infrastructure, the Port of Brazzaville has the opportunity to become an import entrepot for a massive area of Central Africa.
