Nod for zinc mine

Heavy metals miner MMG is to proceed with a challenging project in northwest Queensland that will see development of one of the world's top 10 zinc mines. Chinese-owned MMG has committed to the A$ 1.86B Dugald River mine against a background of rising zinc prices and the exhaustion of other sites, including MMG's own 500,000 tpa Century mine, located close to the Gulf of Carpentaria. Dugald River, rated as one of the world's highest-grade undeveloped deposits, will produce around 160,000tpa of zinc concentrate over an expected life of 28 years. Lead and silver will also be produced in significant quantities.
