It may come as a surprise, given Sir Norman Foster's criticisms of D&B, that his practice is now working on its first D&B project in the UK. Andy Cook hears how it is striving to maintain its design integrity on the armadillo-shaped conference centre in Glasgow. When glasgow's new 3000-seat conference centre is completed on 1 September 1997, not only will it be the largest in Europe, it will be one of the most striking. The building on the banks of the River Clyde has an arching, ridged shell resembling a giant armadillo.
