Top marks to the Federation of Master Builders for persisting in its efforts to have a say on the DETR's anti-cowboy taskforce. It concerns a subgroup looking at how an accreditation scheme for construction firms could be put in operation. I gather the chairman of the group, Colin Harding, was keen to get builders, rather than "industry politicians" involved, and politely declined FMB deputy director Brian Flint's offer to take part. Come the day of the meeting, however, who should turn up but the dogged Flint. I hear that Harding was so flabbergasted, he didn't have the heart to turn him away.
