In response to the article Brazil work fails to live up to UK expectations (30 August, page 10) -entering and participating in the Brazilian market requires firms to: a) partner with local firms, for business development and legal reasons b) hire local people c) speak Portuguese d) patiently develop relationships with all levels in the potential client base. I would not be surprised if many, if not most, of the failed bids to enter and grow in that market stem from companies not having the right planning horizons, and of expecting quick, early wins. Or of being arrogant in the face of competent local competition.
