Galliford Try reports sharp increase in revenue and profit

Galliford Try has reported a sharp jump in revenue and profit despite declining profitability in its construction business. Reporting its results for the year to 30 June 2014, the group posted a 21% rise in revenue to £1.77bn and a 28% leap in pre-tax profit to £95.2m. The growth was largely driven by the firm's housebuilding business, with Linden Homes posting a 20% jump in revenue to £760m and a 37% rise in operating profit to £115m. Its affordable homes business, Galliford Try Partnerships, more than doubled revenue to £243m, up from £97m the previous year, with operating profit rising from £1.4m to £5m.
