So, the votes are in and almost counted... and, unless there is a major surprise, by the time you read this the UK will be heading for the most complicated election outcome in decades. Going into Thursday's polls, there was little to split the Conservatives and Labour; and, with the potential for a formal coalition to be formed also far from certain, a minority government was looking a realistic possibility.
