Reading the National Audit Office's report makes for uncomfortable reading ("Government slammed over £1.35bn cost increase on MoD nuclear jobs" 10 January). If the information contained within the report is accurate, we have to accept that work as critical as this was allowed to start before designs were completed, and the procurement contracts were so poorly prepared that the contractors engaged had no responsibility for cost overruns.
