Broadway Malyan has built a strong relationship with Salford University over the last seven years. The practice has completed a number of interiors projects on the campuses, including, in 2006, the enigmatically named Think Lab, which houses postgraduate researchers working in the fields of built and virtual environments and informatics. This noted scheme, appropriately enough, has a glowing, colour-changing blobby-shaped wall.rnThe recently completed Law Faculty is the first new-build by the architect for the client, and they have continued with the bold use of form and colour. While most of the 2,900sq m building has a judicial sobriety - with a dignified rain-screen clad box, the library, projecting over the two lower floors of faculty teaching and socialrnspaces, and even a mock court - it is finished at one end by a brightly lit, multi-coloured rotunda, the lecture theatre, which comes as rather a surprise.
