Duggan Morris Architects' plans to expand a 19th century building in east London have been recommended for approval by planners at Hackney Council. The project would create an additional l,858sq m of commercial space on 141-145 Curtain Road in Shoreditch by topping the three-storey brick building with a three-storey lightweight extension made from a steel frame. Its rippled and perforated curtain wall system, set behind a filigree mesh screen, will articulate the volumes of the building.
