71 Above offers a dining experience unlike any other

Restaurateur Emil Eyvazoff is known for envisioning and developing one-of-a-kind dining experiences. His ability to see opportunity in unique spaces brought the hybrid restaurantightclub Takemi Sushi and Elevate Lounge to Los Angeles's Financial District. But his most recent endeavor, 71Above, takes Eyvazoff's vision to an entirely new level. Namely, the 71st floor of L.A.'s iconic US Bank Tower. To create this memorable dining space, Eyvazoff turned to the architecture firm Tag Front, West Hollywood, California, a firm he has collaborated with on a long list of projects. The Tag Front team noticed immediately that solar control would be 71Above's number one design challenge. Located 1,000 feet above the ground, 71 Above features spectacular 360° views of the city and surrounding environment. To capitalize on this, architects intended to design an open, circular space. However, summer temperatures in L.A. that regularly exceed 90° would bring heat gain and glare that guests would find intolerable. Using blinds and shades, however, would block the views of the mountains and Long Beach harbor, neutralizing the space's biggest differentiator.
