Radioactive waste sites - sites without planning procedures

Friends of the Earth and Conservative MP Zac Goldsmith are concerned about the implication of radioactive waste sites being deemed as nationally significant infrastructure projects which can be built without going through the planning system. Zac Goldsmith who voted against it said there should have been more debate about such a significant change that deprives local people of effectively objecting particularly on a law passed on the last day of Parliament. He said If there was a debate the MPs would have known what they were voting for.
