RICS gets tough on conflicts of interest

The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors has announced that it will clamp down on conflicts of interest for those working in land, property, construction, and infrastructure. It will tighten the requirements for professionals and firms working in these industries, and will also publish a UK-specific professional statement in April that bans dual agency (double-dipping) in the commercial property investment market. The new global professional statement, which will become mandatory in January 2018, was brought forward by the RICS after canvassing industry views during a wide-reaching consultation.
