The "third screen" is more than mere eye candy. All the talk about the third screen revolves around the idea that the mobile phone will follow in the footsteps of the TV set and the PC, becoming the next device people will use for watching television. In anticipation, cellcos around the world are hooking up with broadcasters, or directly with TV and film studios, to launch mobile TV. In the past couple of months, services that gradually appeared in the last year have been bolstered by a barrage of new partnerships and offerings (see fig.).
