In your article, Lords reject Big Pictures appeal [BJP, 05 November], there is no hint of censure of the behaviour in this case of Big Picture agency photographers.It is partly because of the behaviour of this type of photographer, encouraged by the news media and their cynical attitude to the private lives of public figures, that many photographers with a more conscientious approach to their subjects find themselves misunderstood and harassed by an ill-informed police force and a suspicious public, ignorant about the real historical and artistic value of documentary photography.
