Sony has unveiled the HVL-F43AM compact flash, appealing to its Alpha camera users. The accessory features a Quick Shift Bounce system, which allows the flash head position to be adjusted when switching between horizontal and vertical compositions. "This maintains consistent shadow positions regardless of camera orientation," claims Sony. The flash s power levels are switchable in 22 increments, from full power through to 1/128 level in ~1/3 steps. It has a 2.9s recycling time, with coverage of 24-105mm and uses four AA-size batteries. Sony has also introduced a VCT-55LH mounting bracket, which allows for additional accessories, such as a shotgun microphone or Sony CLM-V55 clip-on LCD monitor, to be securely mounted "while the camera's main shoe is occupied", according to the manufacturer.
