One competitive edge the high street has enjoyed against the large supermarkets over the years is the restrictions covering Sunday opening hours. To maintain sales it is evident that more bakers are considering opening on a Sunday, depending on their location. Last year, the CBA lobbied the government by submitting evidence following a consultation process, which ended last September. To date, no results have been revealed, so it came as a complete surprise to learn that plans had been revived to extend Sunday trading in a recent amendment to the government's Enterprise Bill.
