京都府京丹波町は,京都府のほぼ中央部にあたる丹波高原の由良川水系上流部に位置し,全国に名高い丹波栗など,丹波地域特有の自然を生かした農産品の主産地である.この地域は,古くから山陰街道や若狭方面へ向かう街道筋として栄え,現在でも,京都縦貞自動車道や山陰本線,国道27号,国道173号などが通る交通の要所である.%The town of Kyotamba in Kyoto Prefecture is located upstream of the Yura River water system of Tamba mountains in the near center of Kyoto Prefecture. The Tamba region is nationally known for its native produce, such as its famed Tamba chestnuts. This region has long prospered as a route leading toward the San-in Highway and the Wakasa district; and even today, it is a key transportation node through which major thoroughfares run, such as the Kyoto-Jukan Expressway, the JR San-in Main Line and National Roads No. 27 and No. 173.rnThe Kyoto Line Road No. 450 Hirono-Ayabe Line, is a supplementary trunk road to Ayabe City that runs along the west bank of Yura River, originating in Hirono, in the town of Kyotanba. Along with its importance as a community road that connects each station along the JR San-in Main Line from National Road No. 27 on the opposite side of Yura River, it also serves as the only emergency detour road from National Road No. 27.rnCurrently underway as a section of a roughly 1.4km-long preparation project for the Kyoto Line Road No. 450 Hirono-Ayabe Line, the Omisugawa Bridge is a composite truss bridge with a span of 111.0m that crosses over the Omisugawa River, a tributary of Yura River. For its construction, the suspended stress-ribbon bridge erection method was employed. Along with the encouragement of interregional exchange and promotion of regional industries, this project is expected to improve the redundancy of the function of National Road No. 27. Moreover, due to the adjacency to the planning zone of the Kyoto Jukan Expressway (the Tambe-Ayabe Road), this bridge will play a key role in supporting the construction of the Kyoto Jukan Expressway.
