Italian builder Cantiere delle Marche, which in just a few years has become associated with small- to mid-size explorers, has launched the first of an innovative new series of yachts, appropriately named Flexplorers. The exterior design by Hydro Tec draws some inspiration from the technical ability, reliability and vast decks of offshore supply vessels in a much more balanced and appealing look. Among clever ideas are a 3.5-ton A Frame crane that disappears neatly into the deck after offloading the tender and folding balconies that expand the aft deck into an "infinity deck" of more than 1,200 square feet. The first Flexplorer is 130ft Amelia, which features an interior by Francesco Paszkowski with room for nine guests, a gym and an extensive wine cellar.
