As a portrait photographer I'm afforded a different perspective on the industry from those who are inside it. While so much of architectural photography focuses on the space rather than its inhabitants, for me the person is the central interest. So it was surprising to realise that after working for several years on portrait commissions in the design and architecture world, the majority of portraits I'd amassed were of male practitioners. But why? There must be plenty of women in the industry, why aren't I meeting them?
