'FMMM613'Damen's Sisma-class frigate for the Royal Moroccan Navy

Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding has successfully concluded sea-trials of its 105-metre long Sigma-class frigate for the Royal Moroccan Navy (RMN).The ship is the first of three multi-mission frigates being built by Netherlands-based shipyard for the RMN. The second and third vessels in the series - each 98 metres long - will be launched at the end of 2011.Designed and built to Lloyd's Register of Shipping classification standards, the modern frigate design combines high performance with a diverse range of offensive, defensive and patrol capabilities. The design is a further development of Schelde Naval Shipbuilding's Sigma-class corvettes built for the Indonesian navy, with an emphasis on modular construction and outfit. In addition to conducting traditional naval tasks, the vessel is outfitted for maritime security roles as well as humanitarian aid operations.
