摘要

Sustainability is a buzzword that seems to have replaced "green" without being meaningfully different. Perhaps research indicated that people had been desensitised to the colourful environment-related phrase (in plain English: they got sick to death of it) and so the wordsmiths moved on to something "new". All of that is by-the-by: no matter what you call it, being at least seen to care about something other than dollars certainly seems to make sense these days; at least in countries where merely surviving is not a luxury. Places like, for example, Norway, which as we have recently been told is the home of the first so-called "Environship". So-called by Rolls-Royce, which describes it as "a revolutionary new design of cargo ship which will reduce CO_2 emissions by up to 40 per cent, thanks to a combination of cutting edge marine technology, including a wave-piercing bow and an engine fuelled by liquefied natural gas (LNG)".
