'Kobe'A sturdy pilot boat from Kiso Shipbuilding

Japanese shipbuilder Kiso Shipbuilding has recently delivered the 'Kobe' pilot boat to the Osaka Bay Pilot Boat Company. Registered to the port of Kobe, the vessel measures 18.6 metres in length, with a beam of 4.3 metres and a 2.0 metre draught. Twin Komatsu engines power the vessel; each rated for 569kW and driving four-blade fixed-pitch propellers. This power train pushes the craft to a maximum speed exceeding 30 knots and a cruising speed of 25 knots. According to Kiso Shipbuilding, the craft reached a very swift 31 knots during sea trials.
