Meaningful Meeting in Massachusetts A Report on the 2005 AWIS Conference

Smith College in Northampton, MA, hosted the Association for Women in Science's Conference on Women in Science and Engineering, bringing togedier more than 150 women and men to discuss barriers and issues facing women in science and engineering in the 21st Century. The conference participants came from a variety of backgrounds, including academia, industry, and the corporate world. The conference started on Thursday June 23rd with a pre-dinner reception to encourage participants to network and develop relationships. Following dinner, Dr. Carol Christ, President of Smith College, and Dr. Elizabeth Ivey, President of AWIS, welcomed participants to the Smith Campus and delivered the opening remarks for the conference.
