Jeff Price looks at the X-ray based technologies, how they have improved and their potential for further deployment to safeguard palletised air cargo.rnIn 1979, the notorious Ted Kaczynski placed a bomb in the cargo hold of an American Airlines jet. The bomb failed to detonate properly, but did begin smoking. The flight crew promptly landed the jet with only minor injuries to some passengers. The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation tagged Kaczynski with the nickname, Unabomber, based on the acronym UNABOMB, short for "University and Airline Bomber."
