PFD FAILURE MODES

We count six possible scenarios that will partially or totally degrade PFDfunction and force pilots to implement some sort of backup plan: 1. Total electrical failure. 2. PFD failure (failure of the unit itself), which results in reversionary mode. 3. Attitude/heading reference system failure, resulting in "red Xs" on one or more portions of the PFD (regardless of which screen it's displayed upon). 4. Air data computer failure, resulting in "red Xs" on one or more portions of the PFD (regardless of which screen it's displayed upon).
