Patrouille Suisse Disbandment

The Swiss Air Force aerobatic team, Patrouille Suisse, is to be disbanded at the end of the 2015 display season, according to Switzerland's defence minister, Ueli Maurer. He told the Swiss Parliament that the country could no longer afford to run the team of F-5E Tigers and that it would be disbanded by late 2015 as the Swiss begin to retire their F-5 fleet in advance of the Gripen E's arrival in 2018. The Patrouille Suisse celebrates its 50th anniversary next year. The team recently announced its 2013 display schedule and although no UK appearances are scheduled, the team will appear at Salon-de-Provence in France, Volkel in the Netherlands and Austria's Zeltweg in addition to displays in Switzerland.
