As the 4th Luftwaffe Division at Aurich disbands, its gate guard has become redundant and is available for sale. A McDonnell Douglas F-4F Phantom II (previously 38+49, US serial 72-1259), it is available by auction by the armed forces disposal service vebeg.de. No minimum bid has been placed on the aircraft, which is for display or scrapping only; it wears a '35 years of Phantoms' special colour scheme. Its engines, avionics and weapons system have all been removed.
