Arab Republic of Egypt Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcons bombed ISIL targets in Libya after the terrorist organisation published a video showing the execution of 21 Egyptian Coptic Christians. Dawn raids were launched on February 16 and targets struck included camps, training sites and weapons storage areas. Egyptian military officials said the air strikes were, "to avenge the bloodshed and to seek retribution from the killers" A second wave of air strikes was carried out later, hitting targets in Darma, an extremist stronghold in eastern Libya.
