The Ecuadorian Air Force decided to buy the Anglo-French SEPECAT Jaguar ground attack aircraft in September 1972, although the sale only came to light on August 28, 1974 when BAC announced it had secured export orders for undisclosed customers: confirmation that these were from Ecuador and Oman surfaced not long after. The order was for 12 aircraft - a pair of two-seaters referred to as Jaguar International EBs and ten single-seat ESs. The package also included spares, support and initial training.
