First Philippine FA-50PHs

Delivery of the first two KAI FA-50PH lead-in fighter trainer/light attack aircraft to the Philippine Air Force (PAF) took place on November 28. The aircraft, 15-001 and 15-002, departed from the factory in Sacheon, South Korea the previous day, and routed to Clark Air Base in the Philippines via an overnight stop at Kaohsiung Air Base, in Taiwan. On arrival in the Philippines, they were escorted in by two PAF S211s and, after receiving a traditional water cannon salute from the base fire service, they were welcomed by Philippine Secretary of Defence Voltaire Gazmin and Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff Gen Hernando Iriberri. These are the first of 12 FA-50PHs for which the Philippines signed a contract on March 28, 2014.
