The first Eurofighter Typhoon and Hawk Advanced Jet Trainer (AJT) aircraft for the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) were formally unveiled in a ceremony held at BAE Systems' Warton facility in Lancashire on May 15. The two-seat Typhoon (ZR411/201) and Hawk (ZB123/161) are part of an order from Oman that was contracted in December 2012 for nine single-seat and three two-seat Typhoons plus eight Hawk Mk166s. The company valued the deal at around £2.5bn. Oman selected the Tranche 3 version of the Typhoon, with the E-Scan active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar, which will be retrofitted at a later date. The first Omani Typhoon (two-seater ZR410/NT001) made its maiden flight on November 25, 2016, followed closely by ZR411. Oman will use its Typhoons to boost its existing fleet of 12 F-16C/Ds.
