Embraer's Stylish Praetors

In 2000, Brazilian manufacturer Embraer entered the business jet market by launching its Legacy 600, based on the Embraer ERJ135 regional airliner. It then proceeded to build a business jet range, adding the two Phenom small jets followed by the larger Lineage 1000 based on the Embraer 190. This left a midsize gap, which Embraer wanted to fill.Two new Legacy models were first announced at the 2007 NBAA Convention in Atlanta, though it was in April 2008 that Embraer formally launched the MLJ (Mid-Light Jet) and MSJ (Mid-Sized Jet) which became the Legacy 450 and 500. Embraer's first prototype was the larger Model 500. This differed from the Model 450 by having a longer cabin, due to two extra fuselage sections, ahead of and behind the wing,adding 4ft 6in (137cm) to the overall length.
