While many companies focus their attention on the larger hubs of aviation, Orbx very often provides the GA fraternity with aerodromes or even fields that may not have permanent ATC coverage. It also reinforces the commitment that Orbx has in providing products for all spheres of aviation.So let's take a look at a couple of these, starting with EGHR Chichester/Goodwood located 1.5nm (nautical miles) north-northeast of Chichester. It's quite a famous airfield, with lots of history that makes it a favourite destination for private pilots. The modelling is typical of Orbx, with an enormous amount of unique buildings that reflect the real airfield beautifully. This extends to the famous car racing circuit just outside the perimeter fence and the Goodwood Revival Earls Court Motor Show. This is an Art Deco-styled building that houses different events throughout the year and while it looks authentic, it was actually built in 2008. The Orbx designers are masterful at bringing these smaller airports to life, with areas of long grass and flowers, dozens of animated vehicles accompanied by nicely scaled and (more importantly) readable signage. At Goodwood, this includes a memorial dedicated to the 31st Fighter Group who joined their British comrades in combat. They were in fact the first United States fighter group to join the European Theatre and flew from this very field. The images are from the X-Plane version.
