The first P-72 (ATR 72) maritime patrol aircraft (MPA) to be completed under the MELTEM III programme has entered service with the Turkish Navy. The development was confirmed by the Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB), which is supervising the project.The MELTEM III programme covers the provision of six ATR 72-600 airframes converted to MPA configuration. The first aircraft, serial number TCB-751, test serial CSX69926 (construction number 1070), was formally accepted into service on December 11. The subsequent two will follow later in 2021.
