The kind of end users who spend £500,000 a year or more are hardly typical. But if the prognosis that the a-v market will move further away from technology box sales towards a business where systems, added value and content are paramount is correct, then they are the kind of market leaders whose opinions should reflect the future. The first ever AV Forum for End Users, held at the Oxford Belfry at the end of November, attracted 4o-plus users from a mix of backgrounds. Some 30 per cent were from higher education, another 10 per cent came from large City financial companies, another 20 per cent came from public sector organisations, and the remainder came from a mix of commercial organisations which ranged from a brewery to BT. The two things they had in common were high spends on a-v products and services, and (it turned out) strong views about the future of a-v communications.
