Plays and musicals are likely to come to mind when thinking of stage sets but corporate presentations can be as theatrical as any West End show, involving sophisticated and complex technology on a similar level to a Cameron Mackintosh spectacular. The stage is the focal point of any show; it sets the tone and atmosphere for the whole proceedings and people are today well aware of set design due to light entertainment television programmes like The X Factor and The Weakest Link. 'Clients see sets on TV made up of the latest lighting units and so have an idea of what can be done,' comments Paul Hutton, managing director of Blitz, adding that whatever kind of set is used, it is a crucial part of the presentation. 'Stage sets and backdrops are still an important part of a conference, particularly in terms of getting the brand of a company or organisation across.'
