The audio visual sector initially saw the advantages of digital audio in mixing consoles, wireless technologies and playback systems that brought a new approach to presentation, conferencing and experiential installations. More recently, attention has shifted from digital audio content to what can be done with networking and control. This has created what Will Harris, product support engineer with Martin Audio US, calls "the Golden Age" of digital audio. "Digital audio seems to be in all aspects of AV these days," he says. "It is coming into play as early as the input stage in the signal chain, with the leading wireless manufacturers now offering digital solutions."
