Making connections easy with AV-over-IP

In essence, AV-over-IP transforms an AV signal from a single stream travelling via a dedicated connection into digital data on a network. Instead of travelling into a conventional matrix switch and thence to the output device(s) via one or more point-to-point extenders, AV content is divided into small, digital packets and transmitted via an Ethernet network. Because all the connections are made logically by software on the network, rather than physically by switches and direct connections, AV-over-IP promises considerably more flexibility and reach than conventional AV. Anywhere the network goes, AV signals can follow, and they can be output on any number of suitable devices that happen to be connected, rather than a set number of pre-defined ones.
