The noise pollution generated by the growing number of vehicles on our roads has led to much public complaint in recent years. The constant sound of traffic stopping, starting and travelling at high speeds is known to have an adverse effect on the health of those living and working near busy roads, as well as those travelling in vehicles, where noise can contribute to driver fatigue, with obvious safety implications.
