Modern passenger car chassis require very precise calibration, thus accurate measuring and adjusting in a workshop is of utmost importance. These requirements are excellently met by the novel, touchless, optically operating "new-generation wheel alignment system", developed by Bosch with the support of BMW The new system is not only capable of measuring on car lifts in the traditional way but also while the car drives by the measuring system. Simply by driving the car between two measuring columns allows for the simultaneous measuring of chassis geometry, camber and toe. This greatly adds to the efficiency of vehicle intake in the workshop since customers can already be advised after driving by with their cars whether anything needs to be done about the chassis.
