The automotive industry sometimes takes public awareness of the technologies available in the modern motor vehicle for granted. Passive safety features such as seatbelts, airbags, even antilock braking systems (ABS) have found their way -through a lengthy and systematic passive and active educational network - into the public language, but people still seem a lot less clued-up about the "hidden" active safety features in the car. Automotive supplier Robert Bosch is doing something about, talking directly to the non-automotive press about automotive technology. "Safety is something that people not only expect, but want," said Sandra Pastore, marketing manager of chassis systems. Pastore was speaking at an all-female press conference set up to raise awareness. "There is a safety issue in car purchase," she said.
