Toyota's latest 1.3-litre gasoline engine is smaller, lighter, more powerful and more efficient than the 1.3 and 1.4 units it replaces.rnThe unit features Toyota's own stop-start system and launches in Europe in the C-segment Auris. It is the last in the OEM's family of seven engines, which replaces a range of 13 powertrains.rnDevelopment of these engines focused on reducing the use of energy, including during manufacturing. Improved thermal efficiency and lower friction contribute to Sower CO_2 emissions and higher output.rnThe l,329cc enginerndevelops 75kW (101hp)/ 132Nm compared to the l,398cc's 71kW (96hp)/ 130Nm. With a six-speed manual gearbox, the Auris uses 5.8 litres/100km andrnemits 135g/km CO_2, down from 163g/km.
