Opel will sell the Volt plug-in hybrid in Europe, not Chevrolet. The vehicle will come here shortly after its US launch at the end of 2010.rnThe OEM is confident there is a market for the car, but building the relationships with power companies is more complex.rnGeneral Motors' Volt line director, Tony Posawatz, said: "We'll have applications in Europe, but getting the recharging infrastructure will take longer. There are issues to solve in each country in which it will sell."rnIn the US and Canada, GM is working with the Electric Power Research Institute, a body of more than 30 utility companies, to accelerate the introduction of plug-in electric vehicles. The OEM needs similar relationships in Europe for the Volt's introduction to be smooth.
