Bern shrinks its interior heaters

Engineers at Beru have simplified the firm's auxiliary heater, reducing the number of components to just 25. Positive temperature coefficient (PTC) heaters normally have 150 parts. The devices are becoming more important to OEMs. As engines become more efficient, less heat is available for warming the interior. The units heat the air entering the passenger compartment and are installed in the air duct behind the coolant heat exchanger. Packaging space there is at a premium.
