Golf's cat gets plastic bracket

VW and Anvisgroup of Germany have developed a thermoplastic bracket for catalytic converters. By replacing conventional steel parts, it achieves a small but significant weight reduction of 115g on the Golf MkV's PQ35 platform.rnBecause the brackets sit so close to the engine, they must endure temperatures of up to 175℃ in a highly aggressive environment. Steel plates are usually used for the job.
