Material benefits keep Jaguar XJ light

Jaguar has unveiled its new XJ luxury sedan. The technology-rich flagship car will help the manufacturer compete with Audi, BMW and Daimler.rnThe XJ features an aluminium and magnesium body, helping it to be the lightest car in its class - it weighs 1,796kg.rnChief engineer Andrew Dobson said: "The upper body uses a mixture of new techniques. The front nose cone used to be aluminium, but now has a magnesium beam to mount the lights, the grill and bumper, making it extremely light."
