Audi boosts A3 sedan concept with plug-in gasoline hybrid

Audi has developed a plug-in hybrid version of its A3 premium compact vehicle. The A3 e-tron sedan concept, shown at this year's Shanghai Motor Show, combines a 155kW boosted direct injection 1.4-litre gasoline engine, 27kW electric motor and a 12kWh lithium-ion battery. Power reaches the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The powertrain provides 175kW of power, enough to give the vehicle a top speed of 230km/h and acceleration to 100km/h in 6.8 seconds.
