Mondeo will detect pedestrians ahead

The latest Mondeo will be the first Ford vehicle to have pedestrian detection capabilities integrated in its pre-collision assistance system. Brakes are automatically applied if the driver does not respond to the warnings about pedestrians in the road ahead or that could cross the vehicle's path. The technology aims to not only reduce the severity of collisions with pedestrians but assist drivers to avoid accidents entirely. Working at speeds of up to 80km/h, the pedestrian detection identifies people and reduces the gap between brake pads and discs accordingly, after audible and visual alerts to the driver are made.
