Despite Eco failure VW still plans 3-litre car

Volkswagen has plans to return to fuel-stretching technology which was specially created for an ill-fated version of its most popular passenger car model, Maurice Glover reports. The German company intends to press ahead with energy conservation features which were shunned in car showrooms across Europe when they appeared in the Ecomatic version of the ubiquitous Golf family hatchback two years ago.
